The Daughters of the British Empire in the United States of America ("DBE") helps to support four residential retirement and/or nursing District Homes with regular contributions made possible by fundraising events. These fundraising events are varied and include such activities as fashion shows, auctions, international festivals, bazaars, etc., held by Chapters and/or State Societies.  Since it's inception the DBE has raised over $11 million dollars.

Many members have personal contact with their District Home and its residents and help with entertainment and activities.

The DBE provides a large network of members across the United States. This network can help ease the transition for women who are relocating, either nationally or internationally, and who would like to meet other ex-pats and people with a common background and understanding and at the same time make a valuable contribution towards the wellbeing of others. It is the source of close and long-term friendships.

Most Chapters and State Societies also participate in other philanthropic endeavors in their own communities.
